Adult Faith Formation
For any parish to truly be the living Body of Christ, and a true sign for all who come into contact with it, a priority must be the lifelong continuing formation of all the Faithful. The Catholic Church is very clear in teaching about the fundamental importance of adult formation: “…the Church wisely and repeatedly insists that adult faith formation is essential to who we are and what we do as Church and must be situated not at the periphery of the Church's educational mission but at its center." (Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us,©1999,United States Catho-
lic Conference, paragraph 42).

Within the whole scope of catechetical ministry, adult catechesis must be regarded as a preferential option in planning and programming. When adult catechesis excels, it can then serve effectively as the point of  refer- ence and organizing principle for all catechesis." (ibid, paragraph 78)

Here at Annunciation Parish we strive to make adult formation central.  We take literally the phrase, "Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi", which means that how we pray tells us what we believe.  We therefore put a priority on our worship, and also take time to reflect on our experience of worship, as we know the formational value of the liturgy.  Every parish meeting begins with a time of prayer and formation.  Adults are invited to learn more about the Mass by visiting our Roman Missal Third Edition page, and by attending our yearly three gatherings on "The Year of Faith: The Mystery of Faith Made Known at Mass." During the Year of Faith we also have a special Lenten series on the Nicene Creed. We have regularly yearly seasonal celebrations to enable parishioners to enter more deeply into the Seasons and Feasts of our Church Year.  We have an active Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Process for those adults seeking to become Catholic.  We utilize communications and technology in adult faith formation, which includes our parish web site with over 215 pages with links to all major Church documents and web sites, our weekly Sunday Bulletin, our FIAT Newsletters, and regular faith formation e-mails to parishioners.  We offer summer gatherings for adults, as well.   And we fully support the Domestic Church - the living of faith in our own homes.  And find out all the special opportunities during this Year of Faith here.
