November 17, 2011 was a very busy day at Annunciation Parish & School! November 17 is the Feast Day of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, one of the Patron Saints of our Annunciation Preschool. Our preschoolers had a very full Feast Day! They baked bread to share amongst themselves, as well as with other classes. They came to church and brought the donations they had collected for our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to be Blessed. They also made Saint Elizabeth of Hungary "puppets."
Students kindergarten-eighth grade also brought their Thanksgiving Food Drive collection to Church, where their donations were Blessed during Morning Prayer. After Morning Prayer, they heard two guest speakers who talked with them about the important ministry of reaching out to those in need. Our students learned quite a lot about the St. Vincent de Paul Society from one of our Annunciation Parish SVDP Conference members, and they also learned about the Saint George Interfaith Food Pantry from the Food Pantry Director.
In addition to all of the above, our fourth grade students dressed as Saints as they gave their classroom reports on a Saint each had chosen.
