Annunciation Oktoberfest Bike Ride
Join us after our 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 9th for our second annual Annunciation Oktoberfest City Bike Ride! Our annual "Blessing of Bicycles and Cyclists" will take place at 10:30 a.m. in front of Annunciation Church! See below for more details!

Annunciation’s Oktoberfest Bike Ride returns in 2011 for a another scenic tour of our city’s beautiful neighborhoods and parks. Last year almost 40 cyclists gathered on a beautiful Sunday morning for a Blessing by Father Grogan before setting off on a great ride and concluding with brats and beers at the festival.
The Ride, like all Oktoberfest events, benefits Annunciation School: We welcome your voluntary donations to support Annunciation School.
We will gather initially at Fairview School parking lot at 3645 Clifton Avenue from 10:00 to 10:15 a.m. for check-in and signing of waivers and donations! Riders will re-convene at the plaza in front of Annunciation for a 10:30 a.m. Blessing of Bicycles and Cyclists by Father Grogan. Please arrive at Fairview in time to give your bike a once-over, sign in, make a donation, and proceed to Annunciation.
This year’s slightly shorter route takes a different approach into Eden Park, adds loops into Alms Park and Covington, and skips the Lunken trail. The planned course is about 30 miles: from Clifton to Eden Park; to Ault Park via Victory, Madison and Observatory; to Alms Park through Mt. Lookout, dropping down to Eastern Avenue; crossing the Ohio on the Purple Bridge, then the Licking River into Covington and back to Cincinnati on the historic Suspension Bridge; past Fountain Square and up Vine Street, through the Gateway District and Findlay Market; and back to Clifton along Central Parkway and Ludlow Avenue. Should be a beautiful ride!
The moderately challenging course goes through city streets and has a number of hills – can’t avoid either starting out of Clifton! – so the ride is for experienced cyclists only. We will have two groups of riders, one at 14-15 mph, and the other a bit faster. Please feel free to invite friends. Children 14 and above who are themselves strong and experienced riders may come if accompanied and under the direction of parent or guardian. Because the ride goes through the city, riders must be experienced in cycling with traffic. All participants must wear a helmet, observe traffic rules and sign a waiver. The ride does not provide SAG support or drinks, and the route is not marked. It will be led by James Englert, Mel Bedree and Sam Ransohoff-Englert. If you have any questions, call or email James at 607-7963 or jenglert12345@gmail.com. Please RSVP if possible.
