Semi-Annual Report, 2010
As a result of the generosity of the members of Annunciation and St. Monica/St. George Parishes, the members of the Annunciation Conference of the St. Vincent DePaul Society were able to assist 111 people in our immediate neighborhood areas during the first half (January – June) of 2010. We received cash donations totaling $9,155.00, which included $3,285.00 from the members of St. Monica/St. George. Our members conducted 52 home visits, meeting with clients to learn of their needs and provide what help we could. Concentrating on immediate basic needs, the greatest portion of our funds was used to make rent, mortgage, or utility (gas/electric or water) payments.We also provided $290.00 in funding for food that clients could not obtain at the St. George Food Pantry.In addition to the distribution of funds donated by our parishioners, we were able to assist clients in the amount of $225.00 for clothing, furniture, and household goods “purchased” through the use of vouchers at the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift stores.While your support has been generous, and we thank you for your support and hope you will continue to assist us in this important ministry, we have experienced an increase in the number of calls requesting assistance and regrettably have had to decline some requests for help, referring clients to other agencies as appropriate.
